The Family Court Enhancement Project
(9/1/2014 – ongoing)
The Family Court Enhancement Project is a collaborative project of the Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women (OVW), the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (NCJFCJ), the Battered Women’s Justice Project, and the National Institute for Justice. The Circuit Court of Cook County’s Domestic Violence Division and Domestic Relations Division, as well three other courts nationwide, are participating in the Family Court Enhancement Project in order to improve the custody and visitation process for families who have experienced domestic violence. The goal of the Family Court Enhancement Project is to improve the family court response so that resulting parenting and co-parenting arrangements protect the emotional and physical well-being of victimized parents and their children. CURL is working with the Circuit Court of Cook County to provide the research needed to complete this project.
