CURL is collaborating with Loyola’s Center for Criminal Justice Research (CCJ) and the Winnebago County’s Partnerships and Strategies Reentry Committee to develop an integrated reentry system that is organized around risk, needs and responsivity principles.
Read MoreThe Justice for Families Comprehensive Project is a three-year, multifaceted collaboration between the Circuit Court of Cook County and Loyola University Chicago’s Center for Urban Research and Learning, School of Social Work, and School of Law. Funded by the National Institute of Justice in 2020, it aims to increase the safety of families impacted by Domestic Violence and the well-being of the children in those families.

The Two-Generation Housing and Neighborhood Study is examining the experiences of adults and children in low-income households that have received Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8) and have moved into low-poverty, resource rich communities in Chicago and suburban Cook County. The intent of this research is to fill the knowledge gap that exists about understanding the experiences of these families in these kinds of neighborhoods and identify what policy interventions and support will best serve them.
Read MoreCURL is working in partnership with the Center for Health Equity and Innovation and Cook County Health to facilitate an evaluation of the Flexible Housing Project (FCP) program. The Flexible Housing Pool (FHP), coordinated by Chicago Center for Housing and Health addresses health and housing aims to decrease utilization of emergency services and hospitalizations by connecting people to stable housing and the supportive services they need in order to improve health outcomes.

CURL is assisting Health and Medicine Policy Research Group in their surveying and analyzing the impact of The Chicago Area Schweitzer Fellows Program on the yearly cohorts of health and human service professionals who have participated in the program.

CURL was approached to utilize Loyola’s expertise in a variety of interdisciplinary topics in order to conduct a literature review and analysis of the existing research and data focused on African American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, and Asian American/Pacific Islander older adults in Illinois.

We are working with Lawyers’ Committee for Better Housing (LCBH) to understand Chicago’s eviction crisis. Using mapping, quantitative analysis, and qualitative interviews, we have identified the communities hardest-hit by eviction and modeled the potential impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on evictions.

Led by HEART Women & Girls, researchers on this project hope to better understand sexual violence, sexual health, and barriers to services in Muslim communities in North America. To accomplish this, the research team has distributed a survey (in Feb 2020) to anonymously capture the experiences and perspectives on these matters.
