Erie Neighborhood House Evaluation and Training

As part of the Sara Lee Foundation Chicago Spirit Award, CURL worked with one of the oldest settlement houses in Chicago to: 1) facilitate a comprehensive programmatic participatory evaluation process; and 2) develop education and training services that include participation in the Philanthropy and Nonprofit Sector Graduate Certificate Program and a seminar on human resources.

Housing Discrimination and Economic Opportunity in the Chicago Region

Persistent racial and ethnic segregation has continuing implications for the social, political, cultural, and economic vitality of Chicago region. This report demonstrates the reality of such concentrations, and analyzes why they persist. We are particularly interested in assessing the impact of housing discrimination on job and wealth opportunities for people of color. Findings and recommendations are drawn from reports on this subject written since the last series of reports commissioned by the Human Relations Foundation of Chicago in 1990.

Barriers to Independence: A Study of Housing and Personal Assistance Issues for People with Disabilities Residing in Nursing Homes

Access Living and Loyola University Chicago’s Center for Urban Research and Learning began a collaborative partnership to document the conditions influencing the placement of disabled people in a nursing home, and to identify the barriers that prevent nursing home residents from living independently.

Every Block a Village (EBVOnline) Evaluation

The Every Block a Village Online (EBVOnline) program received Telecommunication and Information Infrastructure Assistance Program (TIIAP) funding to use Web TV technology to organize and inform the community about health related issues. CURL guided the participatory evaluation of this process. The team developed baseline measures, participated in leadership training, and assessed the project’s progress.
