Strategic Planning for the Community Economic Development Team at Access Living
(06/2006 - 12/2006)
Established in 1980, Access Living is a non-residential Center for Independent Living for people with all types of disabilities. Access Living's Community Economic Development Team (CEDT) engaged in a Strategic Planning Process that was facilitated by CURL staff. The purpose of the Strategic Planning process was to create a strategic action plan for Access Living's CEDT to move their service delivery program to include a 'policy agenda' and a community building component. This multi-pronged approach of service; community development; and policy work, mirror other teams at Access Living. Throughout the strategic planning process, CURL documented the opinions and perspectives of experts in the area of Economic Development, and specifically with expertise related to workforce development and the opportunities and challenges facing the CEDT in their efforts in addressing the needs of people with disabilities in becoming self-sufficient.
A strategic plan for Access Living's Community Economic Development Team, which enabled Access Living staff to make informed decisions about how best to achieve their goals and realize their vision of improving the lives of people with disabilities was produced.
