Partnership for a Curriculum on Civic Engagement
(Summer 2009)
This partnership between CURL, Mikva Challenge, and Loyola's School of Education sought to create a holistic 'civic engagement' curriculum for Chicago's middle school and high school students. Topics such as civil rights and democracy in action were key components. It sought to provide a unique program that engages students through shared local history and fosters youth leadership and activism through a service-learning approach. This linkage of historical elements with a leadership and service curriculum created an innovative program that provided a meaningful education experience in Chicago area schools and beyond.
