Needs Assessment of the Catholic Charities’ Street Interventions Program
(2006)
Catholic Charities of Chicago has more than 168 programs in Cook and Lake Counties. CURL worked with Catholic Charities to provide a needs assessment of their Street Interventions (SI) program. SI identifies teens and young adults in need of alternative education, working primarily out of the Back of the Yards neighborhood. SI improves the lives of at-risk-youth by providing positive environments of structure and support. Goals of the program include offering opportunities for positive alternative education, violence-free living, and self-reliance.
The goal of the needs assessment, through site visits, and interviews with staff, and current and former clients, was to document the strengths of the program and to identify the areas that are in need of improvement. An internal report was produced.
